Here's some news and results from the competitions we've entered so far this session...
District PoolThe District Pool competition was held at the 101st HQ over two nights,the Junior event (P7-S2) was held on Monday 19th October 2009 and the Senior event (S3-S6) on Monday 26th October 2009. A few boys from the 5th entered the Junior event. Against some tough competition Gregor was knocked out early on, Andrew C reached the semi-finals, & Douglas reached the final. Unfortunately Douglas was defeated in the final but did very well to claim a runners-up medal. Well done to all the boys who took part.A week later it was the turn of the Seniors. Senior boys from throughout the District took part including Cameron & Ben from the 5th. With both of them up against more experienced competition both were unlucky to go out in the opening rounds.
District SportsWednesday 11th November 2009 saw the Partick District Sports held at the Kelvinhall Athletics Arena. Around 9 boys from the 5th took part with all of them doing well, competing in various disciplines including the High Jump, Shot Putt, Long Jump, 60m, 200m, 800m and 4 x 100m relay. At the end of the evening the overall company results were also announced and the 5th took 4th place. Congratulations to all the boys who took part.
District MasterteamThe District Masterteam Competition was held at the 184th HQ on Tuesday 17th November 2009. Four boys from the 5th took part, Nathan, Gregor & Douglas forming the 5th team and Ross joining another 2 boys to form a team. After testing the boys' general knowledge, sport & history knowledge with many tricky questions the 5th team claimed 7th spot (out of 12th). Well done to the the 4 'brainboxes' for taking part.
District ChessThe District Chess competition was held at the 184th HQ on Monday 25th Jan 2010. The only entrant from the 5th was Cameron who came in a creditable 4th in the Seniors event.
District Scripture KnowledgeA restricted Scripture Knowledge was held on Wednesday 10th Feb 2010 at the 5th. Two teams took part, one from the 5th containing Gregor, Cameron & Ross, and one from the 135th. After an evening of tasking questions based on the book of Acts the 135th claimed the top spot. Well done to all the boys who took part.
